  • Advising a major regional food and beverage company in a $20 Million DIAC arbitration relating to distribution agreement rights and responsibilities.
  • Advised a leading cement company with respect to the issuance of US$130 Million Sukuk financing
  • Advised client regarding legal aspects of investments ranging from US$ 50 Million to US$ 150 Million with respect to Wakala, Murabaha and other Shari ‘a compliant investments
  • Advised leading oil & gas company with respect to the securitization of US$1 Billion of receivables.
  • Advising the global and UAE liquidators on the BCCI liquidation. The matter is now addressing complex jurisdictional and legal technical issues relating to execution of judgments relating to bonds, letters of credit, guarantees and shares and distribution of compensation (US$ multi-million) to creditors and also recovery from judgment debtors.
  • Advising Al Shira ’a Marine Investments Company LLC liquidators concerning all legal issues relating to the liquidation and recovery of outstanding assets. Also addressing debtors’ challenges and distribution of assets to judgment creditors including key banks, Bank of Bahrain, Union National Bank and BNP Parabas.
  • Advising UAE Exchange, (part of NMC Group), on corporate restructuring and all banking foreign exchange and financial services issues.
  • Advising Travelex Global and Financial Services Ltd., on banking, foreign exchange and financial issues.
  • Advising American Express on all debt recovery and financial issues.
  • Advising Mashreq bank on banking and commercial issues including commercial and marine mortgages.
  • Advising Emirates NBD group on banking issues, (transactions, letters of credit and guarantees), debt recovery strategies and ultimately enforcement.
  • Advising Dubai Government on UAE jurisdiction on US$1.25 billion bond issue released in 2 tranches, (US$500M 5 year 6.7% yield and US$750M 7 year 7.5% yield) which was at time of release in November 2010 8/10 times over scribed.
  • Provided significant legal advice to the International Finance Corporation in respect of the first IPP project in Yemen.
  • Acted as the local counsel for the International Finance Corporation and the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector in their various Islamic finance projects in Yemen.

  • Aviation Leasing Agents, Indonesia – advising as to a commercial claim against Garuda Indonesian National Airline for US$2 million.
  • Advising Madar Emirates, a Jebal Ali, building material importer and steel trader, on material supply agreements and associated issues.
  • Advising ECC Contracting LLC on construction tender and FIDIC documents.
  • J.Ray McDermott on Project site issues and labour contracting and standard main contractor agreements.
  • Advising on a technical Engineering Design Consultancy Contract based on the 2006 FIDIC 4th edition Client/Consultant Model Services Agreement relating to the Borouge 3 Project at Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. The scope of work included design services for a chemical storage building, oil storage facility and dry chemical building.
  • Advising on a tender and a main contract documents in relation to the further expansion of T3, with particular complexities arising from the detailed programme and warranties.
  • Advising on the construction matrix and contracts (FIDIC) and contractors’ joint venture for a major retail expansion project.
  • Advising commercially and on the construction contract (FIDIC and EPC) elements of an expansion of a large retail shopping centre.

  • Acting for a confidential Oman client in a AED 30 million real estate dispute relating to the strata law and land ownership in connection with the EMAAR Dubai Marina and Palazzo Versace Condominium projects.
